Elyse Cherry, CEO of Boston Community Capital, has been named an honoree on OUTstanding's Top 100 LGBT Business Leaders list, published in The Financial Times.
OUTstanding, a non-profit professional network for LGBT executives and their allies, has named these executives as leaders who "actively contribute to an environment where all employees feel safe and able to bring their whole authentic selves to work." Honorees on the Top 100 list are recognized for both their excellence as leaders in business and their promotion of LGBT concerns in the workplace.
Cherry appears at # 62 on the Top 100 list. In recognizing her, OUTstanding highlights her accomplishments at Boston Community Capital as well as her civic leadership activities:
(Boston Community Capital) has invested over $1 billion to create affordable housing, jobs and opportunities for low-income people across the United States. Under Elyse’s leadership, BCC has a decades-old non-discrimination policy that includes language prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. They also strive to be a “lifecycle employer,” with family-friendly policies that benefit all staff, including LGBTQ employees. Additionally, Elyse served for many years in a leadership role on the GLAD (Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders) Board and earlier this year accepted the Susan M. Love award from Fenway Health, an internationally renowned health institute for the LGBTQ community.
