Boston Community Capital CEO Elyse Cherry appeared on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes on Friday night (May 17th) to discuss the SUN Initiative's breakthrough expansion deal with East Boston Savings Bank. The $25 million loan - the first of its kind - will allow BCC to expand SUN's model in Massachusetts and beyond.
Hayes spoke with Cherry and Derrick Harper, a foreclosed homeowner who was able to repurchase his home through SUN. Since launching SUN in late 2009, BCC has helped nearly 400 Massachusetts families to remain in their homes, reducing mortgage principal balances and monthly housing payments, on average, by 40%.
