Boston-based national nonprofit makes the Women’s Edge and Boston Globe’s influential list, recognizing the contributions and leadership of CEO Elyse Cherry
For the ninth year in a row, BlueHub Capital has been named to The Women’s Edge and The Boston Globe’s Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts list. This award honors women business leaders who are making a significant impact on the state’s economy. The 100 organizations named, including BlueHub Capital, generated nearly $76 billion in total revenue in 2021, demonstrating that women are key drivers of revenue in the state.
“I am delighted that BlueHub was recognized for the ninth year in a row as one of Massachusetts' top 100 women-led businesses, alongside countless others making a positive impact on our communities at this critical time,” said Elyse Cherry, CEO of BlueHub Capital. “As we adapt to new work environments and expectations in the wake of the pandemic, it has become even more urgent to have women at the helm to drive both Massachusetts's recovery, and to look ahead towards a more prosperous and equitable future. As a CEO leading an organization where women make up nearly 75% of our team, I have prioritized collaboration, curiosity, and flexibility as we continue to evolve and figure out the most effective and financially sound ways to carry out our mission.”
BlueHub Capital has deployed over $2.4 billion in capital through innovative financing tools to support projects that make communities more vibrant places to live. In addition to revenue and operating budget, factors considered in the “Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts” evaluation included workplace and management diversity, board makeup, and innovative projects.
“The organizations on this year’s diverse list are driving innovation across the country, from increased manufacturing capacity to breakthroughs in clinical care and therapeutics,” said the Women’s Edge Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth L. Hailer. “We are honored to celebrate the Top 100 women leaders and hopes it inspires others to succeed here in growing business opportunities and influence our region and beyond.”
Under Elyse Cherry’s leadership, BlueHub has made investments nationwide to: build affordable housing, health centers, schools and other community facilities; provide foreclosure relief through innovative mortgage lending; create jobs; benchmark and drive down energy and utility costs; promote resiliency; and remove financial barriers to US citizenship.
Beyond Elyse’s business leadership at BlueHub, she is also a civic leader whose influence extends across Massachusetts. She is a member of the Wellesley College Board of Trustees, the Board of Advisors of Eastern Bank, and Chair of the Board of the Forsyth Institute. She also serves on the Board of Directors of The Boston Foundation, where she co-chairs the Advisory Committee for The Equality Fund -- a fund supporting Greater Boston nonprofits that strengthen the LGBTQ community.
