The Community Music Center of Boston’s new home in Roxbury’s Nubian Square was recently featured in The Boston Globe following the announcement of a $1 million grant from the Barr Foundation. BlueHub Capital provided $10 million in New Markets Tax Credit allocation as part of the financing supporting the $23 million purchase and renovation of CMCB’s new home at 2164 Washington St. The renovated facility will include 18 music studios, a recording studio, digital piano lab, percussion room, 120-seat performance hall, and dedicated space for workforce development and community programming.
Once complete, the project is expected to increase CMCB’s capacity by at least 50%, allowing the organization to reach more than 7,000 students and patrons annually while expanding access to music education, youth workforce development, Music Therapy, and community engagement.
