Fast Company: Elyse Cherry on Using Anniversaries for Analysis, Not Just Celebration

May 28th, 2026

BlueHub Capital CEO Elyse Cherry recently contributed an article to Fast Company on how leaders can use major organizational milestones as opportunities for deeper analysis, strategy and learning.

In the article, Elyse reflects on BlueHub Capital’s 40th anniversary and the organization’s decision to examine four decades of investment in Roxbury, the Boston neighborhood where BlueHub began. Through the Roxbury Impact Study, BlueHub analyzed more than $147 million in investments since 1986, including support for affordable housing, child care, classrooms, artist studios and other community projects.

Elyse shares three lessons from that review: stay for the long term, examine impact in new ways and think holistically. She explains how long-term, place-based investment can help create lasting community impact when financing is flexible, patient and aligned with local needs.

The article also highlights how BlueHub’s investments in Roxbury have helped support more than 3,000 housing units, more than 1,400 seats in schools and child care programs, and community spaces that contribute to neighborhood vitality.
