Financial Times and OUTstanding have named Elyse Cherry, CEO of Boston Community Capital, to their Top 100 LGBT Business Leaders list for the second consecutive year.
OUTstanding, a UK-based nonprofit professional network for LGBT executives and their allies, has named these executives as leaders who "actively contribute to an environment where all employees feel safe and able to bring their whole authentic selves to work." Honorees on the Top 100 list are recognized for both their excellence as leaders in business and their promotion of LGBT concerns in the workplace.
OUTstanding highlights Elyse Cherry's accomplishments at Boston Community Capital as well as her civic leadership activities:
Led by Elyse, Boston Community Capital was an early adopter of policies that supported equal opportunity regardless of sexual orientation and encouraged vendors and service providers to adopt similar policies. As CEO, she also assured that health insurance coverage was available for the partners of BCC’s LGBTQ employees and signed onto two Supreme Court amicus briefs in support of marriage equality demonstrating to all employees that BCC would work for full LGBTQ equality. Additionally, in 2015, the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice presented Elyse with its “Fueling the Front Lines” award.
