Boston Community Capital’s SUN Initiative was featured in the Brockton Enterprise article “Foreclosure program proven success in Brockton.” The article, written by Carla Gualdron, discusses the success that the SUN Initiative has had, rescuing 34 families in Brockton alone. The article also profiles the McKernan family from Brockton and how SUN helped save them from foreclosure. Gualdron writes:
“Joel McKernan, a city firefighter for nine years, lost his home to foreclosure last year.
“Then he found out about Stabilizing Urban Neighborhoods, a program known as SUN, and was able to re-purchase his house at an affordable price with a lower mortgage payment.
‘“Our house (now) is at current market value and we’re comfortable making our mortgage payment now,” said McKernan.”
